Low
Back Pain
Eight out of ten adults will have a low
back problem at some time in their life.
And most will have more than one episode
of acute low back problems. Lower back
pain is one of the most common maladies,
next to colds and the flu, it is the most
common reason why we miss work and go
to the doctor. It is the most common work
injury. Most lower back problems are mechanical
in nature.
Most treatments fail because they don't
provide a mechanical solution. At Glassboro
Chiropractic Center, we address the lower
back as a working machine. This is done
by examining ranges of motion, muscle
tightness and balance, testing the nerves
that flow from the lower back, and performing
special tests to evaluate joint function
and stability of the lower back.
Then, we prescribe a treatment program
of chiropractic adjustments, exercise,
and lifestyle management to correct and
manage dysfunction of the spinal joints
and muscles. The U.S. Department of Health
and Human Services Agency for Health Care
Policy and Research recommends spinal
manipulation (treatment using the hands
to apply force to the back to "adjust"
the spine, as performed by Chiropractors)
for acute lower back pain. The benefits
can be immediate and long lasting. Many
patients with chronic conditions like
degenerative arthritis and failed back
surgery syndrome may benefit by our multi-faceted
approach.

Headaches
There are many types of headaches. While
pain-reliving drugs such as aspirin can
mask the symptoms, they do not tackle
the real problem. Your health history,
physical exam and x-rays will help us
diagnose tension or migraine types of
headache. They also help diagnose other
kinds of less common headaches like those
associated with high blood pressure, bacterial
infection, tumor or hemorrhage (Referral
to another health care specialist will
be recommended).
Chiropractic care focuses on determining
the cause of your headaches. Often tension
or migraine and provide treatment to relive
headache pain without the use of drugs
and medications.
Alterations in the normal alignment of
the bones and function of the muscles
and joints of the neck and upper back
can cause irritation and inflammation
of the nerves and blood vessels that supply
the head. These structural problems along
with stress, poor posture, muscle tension
or traumatic injuries can lead to headache
pain.
Chiropractic treatment focuses on improving
and correcting the alignment, balance
and function of the spinal joints and
muscles. This can provide relief from
headaches without drugs. The doctors at
Glassboro Chiropractic Center will also
help you determine what triggers your
headaches and recommend relaxation exercises
and postural changes to support our treatment
and reduce or prevent future headaches.
